IPL 2024 Auction: Who will CSK release in 2024?
CSK was both retained and discharged. List: While Rayudu, one of the IPL's most accomplished players, retired after winning the final last year, England's great all-rounder Ben Stokes just pulled out of the 2018 season to manage his workload and fitness.
CSK was both retained and discharged. List: Defending IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have a steady and robust squad at the helm, but the franchise must make a few decisions ahead of the IPL 2024 mini-auction. While most fans are curious about the future of CSK captain and veteran Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the backroom staff and think tank are hard at work.
Given the history of CSK's working setup, the Chennai-based team would retain most of the players while letting go of those uncertain to donate time due to any commitments or injury scares.
The list of released and retained players was made public on retention day.
While Rayudu, one of the IPL's most decorated players, announced his retirement after winning the final last year, England star all-rounder Ben Stokes recently opted out of the upcoming season to manage his workload and fitness.
Having suffered knee issues since the start of 2022, Stokes, who unretired from the ODIs to appear in the recently concluded World Cup, admitted to undergoing the much-required knee surgery. Although the franchise supports his decision to remain unavailable, CSK's decision-makers contemplated releasing him before the auction.
CSK has released the following players ahead of the IPL 2024 mini-auction:
Ambati Rayudu (now retired)
Ben Stokes
Dwaine Pretorius
Sisanda Magala
Bhagath Verma
Akash Singh
Subhranshu Senapati
Kyle Jamieson
CSK has retained the following players ahead of the IPL 2024 mini-auction:
MS Dhoni (wk) (c)
Ruturaj Gaikwad
Devon Conway
Deepak Chahar
Tushar Deshpande
Mahesh Theekshana
Simranjeet Singh
Matheesha Pathirana
Prashant Solanki
Mitchell Santner
Rajvardhan Hangargekar
Ravindra Jadeja
Moeen Ali
Shivam Dube
Ajinkya Rahane
Nishant Sindhu
Shaik Rasheed
Ajay Mandal
Meanwhile, CSK, unlike other franchises, has thus far opted against trading any player ahead of the IPL 2024 mini-auction, set to be held in Dubai on Tuesday (December 19).
CSK's remaining purse heading into the auction is 32.1 crore.
