Who will be the captain of CSK in 2024?

'Thalaivan is thalaivan': CSK CEO's big statement on whether MS Dhoni will feature in IPL 2024

MS Dhoni said he would work on his fitness and return as CSK captain in IPL 2024.

MS Dhoni was a player for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), getting ready for the Indian Premier League in 2024. Even though it appeared as though Dhoni might hang up his boots after the 2023 season, he had promised to focus on his fitness and make a comeback in 2024 to give thanks to all of the fans who had supported him all across the nation.

Fans wearing the CSK yellow with Dhoni's name on the back had become a feature of the 2023 season of the IPL, even when CSK was playing away from home. How fit the CSK captain remains to be seen, but the franchise's CEO, Kasi Viswanathan, is confident Dhoni is playing for them in the IPL 2024.

"If our leader has spoken, he has never gone back.

He had previously informed me of his plans for the interview. I am sure that, knowing MS, he will always do what he has committed to do. He is quite fit. Thalaivan is thalaivan (our leader is our leader)," Kasi Viswanathan said in a video shared by CSK.

Dhoni had been managing a knee injury for much of the 2023 season. Despite that, he had heavy strapping on the knee and kept wickets for CSK throughout the season. The former India captain underwent successful left knee surgery at Mumbai's Kokilaben Hospital on June 1, 2023. He has trained in Ranchi many times since the end of the 2023 season.

Dhoni was the only active player among the teams' captains in the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008.

Known as one of the greatest Indian captains ever, Dhoni guided CSK to a fifth championship that matched all previous records in the previous campaign.

His international career ended on August 15, 2020.

He is the only international skipper to have won the ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup, and Champions Trophy. He was also the captain of India in 2009 when they achieved their first-ever Test ranking victory.
