As the India cricket team head into the Indore Test for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, questions arise on the inclusion of KL Rahul. The opening batter, who played the first two series Tests as the vice-captain, was criticised for his inconsistency. He is able to manage a score of 20, 17, and 1 in three innings, which leads to the demands, from fans and professionals, from his side exclusion.

Though Rahul was able to manage to take place in the squad for two last series tests, the tag of vice-captain was missed along with his name. It now results in speculations that the cricketer of the Karnataka team may lose his playing place in playing XI in-form Shubman Gill. Former head coach of the India team,  Ravi Shastri put the light on this curious case of KL Rahul and dropped the unusual statement. Shastri believes that there will not be any vice-captain of this team, at least not in the home test. The team management takes the decision on the vice-captain. They know the form of Rahul due to knowing his mental state. They know the way in which he must be watching like  Shubman Gill. He believes in never appointing a vice-captain for India. I will go with my best XI, and if there is no vice-captain, Shastri said. 

Someone take place, if the vice captain are not present. I am as brutal, I never being as vice-captain in home conditions. It is a totally different case. Here is the need for prime form, someone like the shubham gill. He will challenge. He has to bang th door down and take the side. Now, he is not the vice-captain; it is a decision taken by management,” he said. 

India dropped the title with an unassasilable 2-0 lead last week and root for a third victory on the trot to secure a berth in WTC ( World test championship) final. Australia will make look to bounce back to keep their team on the hunt
